Concentric ripples on calm blue water

What is a Ripple and why it Matters

During this past year and a half it has been a very wild and difficult time for me and my family. But like most people the times in life that are the hardest have also had a very strange catalyst for change.

I have always loved to learn about science and I especially have always enjoyed water. Now go with me in your imagination and pretend we are at the edge of a beautiful lake. The water is crystal clear and is like glass. Now in order to create a nice ripple in the water you will have to pick up a rock and throw it. Now stick with me. With most waves or ripples there is typically always a central point of origin. A location where the ripple started.

Now I like to think this is me and you as an individual. In our own lives we cannot be ripples for change in ourselves or for our zone of influence unless we are firmly grounded in who we are first. We have to first become the rock of our lives and then allow the changes to expand from that. I think for me I have realized that I really needed to find that part of me that has always been there but has been overshadowed by distraction or entertainment. I realize that in order for me or anyone else to change we have to first dig into who we are and figure that out first and then let the waves occur naturally.

So in summary, you are like a rock being thrown into a puddle. You have to become the rock first and then the changes will come. I hope this makes sense and I hope it may help you to remember to first get grounded in yourself before anything else you engage in. Once you do that the ripples will come with little to no effort.
